Ho(me), Ho(me), Ho(me)
Something by the Sex Pistols.
I think you should cover something younger Afi fans can relate to more, like New Born By Muse, something differentJade you have made me so happy by coming to the uk before the album comes out, it means the world.I wait ready to explode in excitment
Of the top of my head I would say - Guns n Roses - Think about you.I loved your cover of my michelle so I think it would work well.
Oooh or maybe something by Atomic Rooster. I don't know if you have heard of them, they are pretty old but I think they are great. You could do some interesting stuff I think. If you want to check them out then I recomment 'In hearing of Atomic Rooster'xxxxx
New Noise by RefusedLove Will Tear Us Apart or Warsaw by Joy DivisionHow Soon is Now or Panic by The SmithsThe Walk or Jumping Someone Else's Train by The CureZiggy Stardust by BowiePhotograph by Def LeppardCheap Shots, Youth Anthems by Kid Dynamitethere are so many songs that you guys could fucking destroy and make so much better...p.s.-see ya at the bamboozle and roseland and hopefully whatever DF only thing is goin on in NYC...maybe we can talk shop like we did a long time ago
You know what? I think something by the Smiths. Loveisdead is cool for reminding me of them. My brain stopped working during the first post.
some more of the cure. you should try the clash.
Shooting Star by Poison would be great! Anything by Poison, The Cure, The Clash and Joy Division, actually
Something by Bowie or maybe The Cure's "Alt. End" or something...But really, I just wanna hear your new album, while covers are nice and all, I WANT THE NEW ALBUM, because I KNOW it will be asolutely MIND BLOWING and amazing! Can't waiiiiitttt, please tour Europe?<3
I know it'll never happen but... Orgy's "Stitches" would be amazing.Hey, I can dream.
Love is a Battlefield!! :)Actually, something by Queen would be really sweet. If you covered "Rebel Girl" by Bikini Kill, i'd probably passout from being so overjoyed.
PS: Cure's Fascination Street
Love Will Tear Us Apart, for sure. I would DIE.
"How Soon is Now"-The Smiths"Lady of the Flowers"-Placebo"Bohemian Rhapsody"-Queen."She's in Parties"-Bauhaus (I'm wearing my Bauhaus shirt now.)"Without You I'm Nothing"-Placebo. I'm a HUGE Placebo fan. Have you listened to the new record? Beyond amazing. And ANYTHING by David Bowie. Davey + David Bowie = hella sweet. How about something like VNV Nation? It'd be cool to hear an AFI-like version of "Beloved"Also... cover Placebo!
Oooooh, do a Cure or a Smiths song, any song. OH WAIT, how about a Depeche Mode song? That would be unbelievably awesome!
"Fiction" by Orgy, "The Lovecats" by the Cure, or maybe something by Queen. [except Bohemian Rhapsody. that one's sacred. :D )
Something that you would never think of AFI playing :)Blues Brother - Soul man or Someone to love.Slipknot - Wait and bleed (theres a challenge for you, make it sound more AFI)in all seriousness, i know Davey (and maybe all of you) Loves Queen, and i would love to hear any Queen song sung by Davey
Radiohead - Pyramid SongBoomtown Rats - I don't like MondaysJoni Mitchell - A Case of YouThe Clash - Train In VainI'm just morbidly curious to hear what Joni Mitchel in the key of AFI would be though.
Well I just got so excited that I can barely think of anything.I'm not sure, it's never really ever any fun when they cover a band that they sound like, so I'd go with something kind of out there, like Portishead or Sublime, The Distillers or New Pornographers.Actually, F-Minus' "Wake Up Screaming" or "Paid to Listen" would be great, too.
Poison heart :the RamonesEyes without a face : Billy IdolLove Song:The Cure(anyway everybody it's gonna choose a The Cure song)if you could speak in german I'd probably tell you that ''was zahlt'' by the Die Totem Hosen(the punk rock german band, they are kings here in Argentina) would be a great cover because is a sooo beautiful song , anyway if you hadn't heard it yet , you should listen that song in the future at least for one time in your life. good luck
Maybe...Jimmy Eat World - Get It Faster. Mainly 'cause it's stuck in my head and it's a totally sweet song. I've actually thought about this, but I can't remember the song. Gah
hmmmmmmwhite man in hammersmith palais-the clashsister ray-the velvet undergroundteenage wasteland-the whobrain damage-pink floyd1970-iggy pop and the stooges warsaw-joy division jane says-jane's addiction teenage labotomy- the ramones i fought the law- the clash rock the casbah- the clash now i'm here-queen rock lobster-the b-52sdance this mess around-the b-52s in the flesh-pink floyd brown-eyed girl- van morrison private life- oingo boingo money-pink floyd another one bites the dust- queen don't stand so close to me- the police tommy gun- the clash america- simon and garfunkela long list, yes, but good songs
"Anything" by Dramarama
Well, this isn't for AFI, but I think Blaqk Audio could pull off doing "Fashion" by David Bowie, with all the electric sounding stuff. But as far as AFI covers go, I'd say cover... "She's In Parties" or "Double Dare" by Bauhaus.
ANYTHING by QUEEN. I'm sure Davey has a song or two in mind.
Wonderfull question:))Heres what i think:Misfits - She (no,there is no such thing as enough Misfits covers:))Hey Joe - Hendrix (now that would be odd as much as it would be sweet.and thats a LOT!:))Slayer - Payback (this would be a dream come true...)Offspring - Ill be WaitingMegadeth - Loved To DeathI could name a thousand more...but ill stop while i can:)
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out or Rubber Ring - The SmithsBefore Three - The Cure (this would be an AMAZING cover.)In The Flat Field - BauhausMother - DanzigHappy When It Rains - Jesus and the Mary ChainShe's Lost Control or Isolation - Joy DivisionRain - The CultTonight Tonight - Smashing PumpkinsSour Girl - Stone Temple PilotsAbsent Stars - Year of the RabbitWe Are 138 - The Misfits (this would be amazing, because 138 is my lucky number)VNV Nation - Darkangelpretty much any Cure, Smiths, Misfits, Bauhaus..anything you cover will be great though. those are just some that I think you guys would be phenomenal at covering.
"Livin' On A Prayer" by Bon Jovi. Those "Whoa's" always reminded me of you guys.
Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" I can see you guys doing amazing things with that song! Or maybe Love and Rocket's "So Alive" See you Wednesday!
Definitely something fun & unexpected. A couple of weeks ago I kept hearing Davey's voice over 'Whores' by Jane's & 'Easy' by PJ Harvey. This is difficult. I need to think some more.
Hmmm Close- NINLullabye-The CureEnjoy The Silence- Depeche ModeAnd since we all heard the little duet you and davey did in the vocals vid form STSKiller Queen- Queen
Love will tear us apart by Joy Division. Or anything by JD. And I absolutely adore the song Beloved by VNV nation as well, so that would be good. Or other interesting covers, though unlikely to happen, would be Waiting Room by Fugazi, C'Mere by Interpol or Everything Shining TIme you arrive by Sunny Day Real Estate.
"Lovesong" by the Cure.Oh and "Lips Like Sugar" by Echo and the Bunnymen. Both would be awesome, but I'd really love to hear what you guys would do with "Lips Like Sugar".
How Soon is Now of the Smiths! YES! That would totally rock! Or maybe Kingdom for a Heart by Sonata Arctica! I'd love to see you guys covering a metal song!
Wait! I changed my mind! Cover Tiger Army! Yeah! Do that and Tiger Army will might gain lots of more fans! You could cover Atomic or Incorporeal! Yes! T X A X N X D !!!
Somehting by Against Me!. Because you guys are 2 TOTALLY different sounding bands...and I have been wondering what it would sound like if you coverd them.I doubt you will.
Wicked Games, but I cant remember who sings the original one, but you know, the same song HIM covered.
I can hear you boys rocking the hell out of either Disintigration, Blood Flowers or Lullaby by the Cure. You guys kick ASS at covering them. COME TO LONDON ONTARIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!<333
OOOOOOOOOOOR Love will tear us apart (redeem at song after Fall Our Boy raped it) or you have killed me by morrissey.
The City Sleeps in Flames by Scary Kids Scaring kids. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE COVER THAT SONG... i listen to this song too much and it's too good. I hope you can cover it... and you guys do a superb job on any song you guys COVER.
Something good but not too good; in fear of accidentally screwing up a classic.Bring on The Smiths?
Oh, no Queen or Bowie...any cover of those tend to be God-awful, no matter how wonderful the band is.
Some early, dirty, heartbreaking Queen. 'March Of The Black Queen' maybe... or whatever's fun for you guys to jam on...or a-ha's 'The Swing Of Things' good god, now there's a bridge to suck the breath right out of you.....and I'd be lying if I said I haven't had the odd fantasy about hearing Davey intoning the intro to Prince's 'Let's Go Crazy'.... DEARLY BELOVED... WE ARE GATHERED HERE TODAY TO GET THROUGH THIS THING CALLED LIFE...aaawwww hell yea XD
like others said, the smiths/morrissey.david bowie...i dont know which one.."Rock N Roll Suicide?"THE STYX! ha. how much would that rule to hear afi cover "Lady?" or "Mr. Roboto?"in a weird sort of way, it could possibly be amazing to hear you guys cover a bob dylan song. actually, i dont think that would work at all.
BOWIE/QUEEN -UNDER PRESSURE
Something very unexpected :DI agree with "How Soon is Now", but "Still Ill" and "Nowhere Fast" would be good, too.Heh, I've been humming it all day, so why not suggest it: "Such Great Heights" from the Postal Service. How about "Bad Moon Rising" from CCR?Or OOH! I just remembered how my friend and I were thinking how awesome it would be if you covered an Elfman song...It would be sweet to hear "Oogie Boogie" from Nightmare Before Christmas because of the "Woahs!" But in Corpse Bride "Remains of the Day" also has killer back up vocals. Please consider these :D Don't let the fact that both are jazz based intimidate you. hehI'd love to hear "Prettiest Star" or "Aladin Sane" from Bowie. What about "Letter to God" from London After Midnight?I know you'll probably be like "WTF?" with this next suggestion, but I think its pretty (of course, this bands lyrics kind of lack, but they have beautiful melody and brilliant guitar/bass). Los Lonely Boys "Velvet Sky" (give it a listen at least ^^;;)Some else suggested Placebo. That would be cool, I like "My Sweet Prince" :0Rancid "Roots Radicals" because it would be awesome.Ooh! This would be nice. Good song that alludes to a great poem. Simon and Garfunkl's "Richard Corey"Tenacious D's "Wonderboy". That's right. Or "It's Tricky" RUN DMC. Sweet. "Hips Don't Lie" PLEASE!!!Okay, how about "Paradise," "Wanted," "Half a Week Before the Winter," and "Dark Carnival" from Vanessa Carlton. No, I'm serious. She's pretty awesome with songs, I think. Give those a listen :PThis is from my friend who doesn't have a blogspot, because she doesn't want to conform:"Closer" from NIN. Sexcellent!Or a random Smiths song....Not a cliche one.Placebo, "Without You I'm Nothing"I second "Rock Lobester!" You could totally crabwalk with the guitar!Okay, this reply was little long I guess, but I have a lot of ideas. That, and I TOTALLY GOT YO' BACK! :0
Please no 'Jane Says.' That's just wrong. I would love to hear something ('What She Said') by The Smiths. They were my favorite band of all time until I started listening to AFI.'Everything Counts' or something by Depeche Mode would be sweet.'Mirror in the Bathroom' the English Beat'Ocean Size' Jane's Addiction'taxi driver' hanoi rocks
Spice Girls. You boys in dresses? Me-ow.
Maybe some more of the Cure, I really enoyed your cover of "Just Like Heaven."Though you know what would sound really really bitchin cool? If you guys covered Type O Negative's "Black No. 1." or "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend."Maybe some Danzig, though it would just prove the point that Davey is slowly turning into Glenn, just don't punch anyone in Tuba City, ok?Hmmmm....what songs do you like playing on the guitar? Ok, now I'm blabbing. It would be cool to hear a Type O cover though.
SMITHS! SMITHS! SMITHS! SMITHS!Nowhere fast!! my favorite song!
hmm.. some david Bowie, maybe some more Cure? Joy Divison and VNV Nation would be fabulous too!
rebel yell - billy idoldig up her bones - misfits
Anything by The Cult
napolean solo - at the drive-in
Something by Eisley..definitely Eisley.It'd be a change...
OH OH!!!CLOSER BY NINE INCH NAILS!!!WOW I CAN IMAGINE IT!!!WOW PLEASE?!!!
Definitly something from The Clash - Train in vain looks coolAnyway, any cover that AFI made since "Man in a suitcase" till "Head like a hole" sound better than the original...See you in London and Berlin
Electric Six / Gay Bar would be hell of funny
Oh yeah, "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen would be absolutely rockin'.
I Want You Back - Jackson 5
Anything Bowie, Joy Division, Queen, Smiths... Incorporeal by Tiger Army, Lovesong by The Cure. Play a Ramones song. That'll be cool.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Relax. =]Duran Duran – The ReflexPlacebo – Every Me Every YouCarly Simon – You’re So Vain.Marc Bolan & T. Rex – 20th Century Boy.Eurythmics – Sweet DreamsMadonna – Material Girl Pet Shop Boys – It’s A SinDepeche Mode – Master and ServantNine Inch Nails – CloserDead Or Alive – You Spin Me Round [Like A Record] (pleasepleaseplease)Alternatively you could AFI – up something like Covenant / Assemblage 23 / Decoded Feedback. (I’d love you forever) And for sheer comedy value Europe’s “The Final Countdown” is never displeasing =]]]
Just Like a Prayer - Madonna I'm serious.Or Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen.
Hey!Before I forget...Can you ask Hunter to take some "Hunter Revenge" Album when you're coming in europe, please. Correspondance will be too short as you start touring this wed.If you pass by Geneva during your stay in the old continent give a sign.Regards to everyone!
Another vote for Let's Go Crazy by Prince. Do it! Do it now!
JOY DIVISION!!!You guys would make any song sound AMAZING.Really.Please.Joy Division. ♥
Depeche Mode - Policy of TruthDefinitely!
You guys. Secret show in CHICAGO with my friend's band on June 6. Play a hardcore / metalcore show. Cover "Where Eagles Dare" & "Last Caress" by Misfits, pull out some Iron Maiden and Metallica (how about "The Trooper" and "Motorbreath"). It'll be good times.
How about some Kanye West? Kidding :) I like the Spice Girls suggestion, but I'm really pulling for some Placebo. "Twenty Years", maybe?Hell, I don't even know if you like them. Here's a crazy one: Interpol!
another cure song...or....no, i say a cure song.fascination street or something, if you could pull it off. and i know you could.
The show must go on-Queen (that would be beyond amazing)Anything The Cure/Bowie (of course)Haha, do a Beatles songCreep-RadioheadSomething by Muse would be coolOh! I got it! Madonna! Cover a Madonna song!
....hahaha okay yeah, i agree with the people that have said closer by nin.do it! :)
I know this one!VNV Nation - FearlessThe Smiths - Nowhere fastdepeche mode - strangelovejoy division - she's lost controlactually, any song by those bands would be cool. or something by the white stripes, maybe?
Well, you've already done a Cure cover, and performed Just Like Heaven...Something by The Sisters of Mercy? That would be awesome. I mean, I'd love to hear yet another cover of Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart, but does seem to be overdone. I've been trying to think of a more recent band for you to do a cover of, but couldn't really think of anything. Interpol, perhaps? I don't know. VNV Nation would be interesting...if you could cover one of their songs, preferably Beloved or Further, so it included guitar, drums, and bass, but still include electronic elements.
"A Means to an End"- Joy Division"TV Casualty"- The MisfitsEven though you've allready done a few Misfits songs, there allways going ot be amasing and well I've allways loved your covers nealy more then the original. You 4 know how to bring things to life.
I'll have to agree with 'anything by David Bowie'.You know what others would be amazing? These:Hot Hot Heat - "Jingle Jangle"Bouncing Souls - "Hopeless Romantic" (I can hear Davey singing it now, it seems to fit his vocals for some reason.)The Juliana Theory - "Into the Dark"Blonde Redhead - "Elephant Woman" (For whatever reason, I can see this working.)Rancid - "Time Bomb" and/or "Lock, Step & Gone" ('And Out Come the Wolves' is love.)That's all I got for now...
Hell. Anything would be rad, buuut I think it would be pretty cool if you did something by the Smiths or something like that. Who knows.
Oh, I have a list! ^.^I Want You To Want Me by Cheap TrickBohemian Rhapsody by QueenKiller Queen by QueenCloser or Hurt by NINDead Souls by Joy DivisionDon't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster CultBlack Dog, Immigrant Song, or Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin (Please don't cover Stairway to Heaven, whatever you do. It's been done enough.)Blitzkreig Bop by The RamonesTeenage Wasteland by The WhoLondon Calling by The ClashSuck My Kiss by Red Hot Chili PeppersAnd if you're feeling up to the challenge...Redemption Song by Bob MarleyYes I know, I'll shut up now...
--"The Day the Earth Caught Fire"!'There was life here once The tension, the harshness of life, Lost in the flow of time Now comes crumbling down The land will be covered in darkness Premonitions of sorrow and anger, even so Things rush on, fleeing, changing, never facing it, straight on To all things under creation... Never facing it, straight on well i know The Day the Earth Caught on Fire'
Closer by NIN, Love Will Tear Us Apart or Nirvana!!!!!!
I'd like to hear you guys cover something by Bauhaus...probably The Passion of Lovers. Also, just because they sound completely unlike AFI, and I'd like to hear what you guys could do with the song:The Weather - Built To SpillFunctions - Tiger LouKissing Families - Silversun PickupsKillbot 2000 - Murder By DeathSan Dimas High School Football Rules - The Ataris (cause that would be fun)Schizoophrenia's Weighted Me Down - Cat PowerAlthough, covers by The Cure, Joy Division, The Smiths and so on would be cool... but predictable.
I would want to see anything by Bowie....Under the God(Tin Machine), D.J., Ziggy Stardust, I'm Afraid of Americans...so on.I would absolutely go crazy with happiness if you covered Heart-Shaped Box by Nirvana. I adore that song.
ooooo yes, please do closer by NIN, that'd be killer cool
or eyes without a face by billy idol....hang on, scratch that idea.................................shit
aha! wonder world by oasis!
Oh, and by the way... I would totally pass out if you covered something else by NIN.Something like.... "We're In This Together Now" or "Closer" or something. And I mean... like... a dead faint.
Ever since the 'Vocal Tracking' video from STS I've wanted to hear a cover of Queen's "Bicycle"...I just read some of the other posts and it seems there have been plenty of great ideas (The Smiths ect) but I’ve always wanted you guys to cover "Zombie" by The Cranberries.. seriously, I think you would totally rock that song. :D Good luck with whatever you do.Stay happy,Frin™
cut here by the cure. it would be beautiful.xxxx
cover one of linkin park's songs? now that would be rad.
Hammer to Fall - Queen. That would make my life.Come to Australia? Soon? Please?Love you,*Rio*
I just wrote a whole thing abuot how you should cover Bikini Kill and then I saw somebody else already sugested it. So that's two votes. Just please don't cover the Misfits or the Cure again. We know you're good at that. No Smiths or Joy Division either. I don't want to hear a tribute, I want to hear art. ♥
Anything by fucking DEATH CULT!!
id be happy with another misfits cover, and maybe a cure song as long as its not one of the slow and mopey ones...or maybe some of this : Http://www.purevolume.com/crackhousemainly the song "Hit That" you guys would pull it off great.
I think that you should cover Jitterbug by Wham
liar by the cranberries, sharp words by GyroscopeLounge Act by NirvanaDrain You by Nirvana
I think some of Bad Religion (Infected) or Skid Row (I Remember You) would be the best
Something by Le Smiths or Bauhaus. Or both. That'd be so freaking awesome beyond words. And for some reason I think you guys could pull off something by Placebo perfectly. Yes, Placebo. Please! <3
I think a Joy Division cover would be amazing or maybe Bauhaus?Oh and after all the time people spent trying to figure out your little mystery it totally sucks that so few people got passes..
KOREA OR BE QUIET AND DRIVE-DEFTONES1979-THE SMASHING PUMKINSSTOP-JANE´S ADDICTIONMY MAGDALENA-A PERFECT CIRCLENORWEGIAN WOOD-THE BEATLESLITHIUM-NIRVANAH.-TOOLLOVE TWO TIMES-THE DOORS
Id definatley say do something by THE OFFSPRING, Have you ever (wait i can just imagine it now.... )Jade, Huunter, Adam: Progssive Eminor chord, note, some drum thing.Davey: Have you ever, faaallingDavey, Jade, Hunter: Fallingetc: rest of teh songOr you could try something out of the blue and try Finch (Insomniatic meat)OR even Incubus
Under Pressure- Queen
Definately something by The Smiths. Or Joy Division. Or Queen. Yeah, anything by them would rock.
THIS MODERN LOVE BY BLOC PARTY do it do it ill love you forever :(even though i will anyway :/or closer by ninor maybe some more cure?
Hungry Like the Wolf.I know I've thought of better, but that just came to my head, and it'd be fun.
I would kill all humans to hear you play "This Charming Man" by The Smiths IN LONDON!!!
You should cover something crazy that no one would ever think you would do. It could make for an interesting reaction from everyone.
I think you guys should do another NIN or The Cure cover, that'd be nice...
Hit Me With Your Best Shot by Pat Benatar.I'm totally not having trouble actually seeing this at all.
i think bohemian rhapsody by queen would be wonderful.
How about something that isn't The Smiths, Joy Division, The Cure (been there, done that), Misfits (same goes), David Bowie, or Queen. Basically anything that's popular to AFI in general. The only reason these kids are suggesting that is because those are bands you guys personally like. I'm sorry but I am just sick of hearing all these kids obsessed over bands that weren't even in their era.Be creative and go for something that isn't popular by today's standards. I'm sure you could think of something. Whatever it is, you'll make bank either way.
I'd say do something not even in the rock genre and change it up a bit. I think it would be much more interesting than doing an 80's alternative song, or otherwise. It would also give you more freedom and creativity to make something that most of your fans aren't probably into, into something that everyone would love. ....Anyone up for a challenge?Silver Dagger by Dolly PartonorFolsom County Blues - Johnny Cash These have HUGE potential to be the coolest covers--- EVER.A lot of fans complain about 'happy songs' and these lyrics would have to satisfy them. Besides, everyone does a Smiths cover, a Joy Division Cover, a Clash cover, and ESPECIALLY a Cure cover. Everyone already knows what you listen to, and expects that kind of music from you. What is the fun in that?! Pulling something out of left field would be much more exciting and might open fans up to other things. We hear you say the bad things about close minded fans. So... deliver us something totally different! It would be much more fun and totally appreciated. =)However, if that isn't cool enough, I'd say for you guys to cover 'Take On Me' by A-haI would pay ten million dollars (if i had it) to see Davey try and hit that high note. I don't even think its possible unless you used some sort of torture device. (Woah that is a lot of words...)
The Smiths.Depeche Mode.Joy Division.
hmmm...Placebo: Bruise Pristine/Twenty Years/Every You and Every Me.Queen: Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy/Killer Queen.Billy Idol: Dancing With Myself. The Violent Femmes: Blister in the Sun.The Smiths: Golden Lights.
now I'm thinking again ...yesterday I said something of billy Idol (eyes without a face ) the Ramones(Poison heart ) The Cure (love song)would be cool , but.. today I saw a video that I haven't seen in a long time the song is :''COME UNDONE ''by DURAN DURAN , I really don't know if any of you is fan of DURAN DURAN , but I used to adore that song when I was younger ,Sued Head by morrissey is another beautiful song , but anyway ....I don't know why I find something special in DURAN DURAN'S COME UNDONE sorry for post again but I had this thought in my mind.
"Cygnet Committee" by David Bowie...? I always lay about in a post-orgasmic haze for hours after listening to that song.
Gave Up by NIN or march of the pigs by NIN...take your pick, both would work well to rock out any audience that was present
Heather, I think Davey can totally hit that high note in "Take on me". But yes, do something that isn't expected such as Misfits (gotta love them), queen, the cure, joy division, or the smiths. I did like that recommendation of Folsom Prison Blues, that would be interesting!
I can't think of one single song right now.I'll have to get back to you on this one.On a completely different note, have you heard of the band Explosions in the Sky? Somewhat on the same vein as Godspeed you Black Emperor!.
If I had a rocket Launcher - Bruce cockburn XD tehe *wonders if anyone even knows who that is*
I'd like to SEE you COVER the DFW area again sometime before I die.And once you get here, we will kick it and go to Starbucks or something.Good luck at your first stop tonight.Peace nugga!
"The Mountain Song" for sure. Maybe "Metal Militia" would be fun. And I'd bet that Blaqk Audio could do something really f'd up with "Cars".
"Planet Earth" by Duran Duran...oh yea.
I think you guys should cover something by Blondie. I don't know why but that seems like it would be interesting.
Love Removal Machine.
My Mind's Playing Tricks On Me by The Ghetto Boys.
You know what? I'd love to see you guys cover a Christian Death song.. say, Skeleton Kiss or Deathwish. Or, perhaps Daucus Karota's "Angel" (another one of Rozz's band, but with more of a rock sound, rather than deathrock). It'd be amazing. Then there's Poison. Guh, Fallen Angel would be a great cover.
why not a rancid cover? that would be great (:
or trouble breathing by alkaline trio. quite simple, i would like to hear your version of it
How about "Rocket Queen" by Guns N' Roses?"She Sells Sanctuary" by the Cult?
Queen. Anything by Queen.-See Ya at warped in Calgary.
These might be repeats because I am way too lazy to read through what everyone else has to say, but here we go:"Life on Mars?" "Five Years" and "Lady Stardust" by Bowie. Then, perhaps, if you had some time leftover, I'd very much like to hear a little "Heat of the Moment" by Asia.
"Don't Stop Believin'" - Journeythat would be insanely amazing.maybe a Smashing Pumpkins song.<3
Play John Cages 4:33, you'd kick ass and confuse everone in the audience.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4:33(just incase you don't know it)Or Or Or play the Origin of Love from Hedwig and the Angry Inch (or really any song from their soundtrack, Random Number Generation is also amazing as is Nailed)Or My Buried Child by Swans, that song is amazing. If you want opera I love The Cold Song by Purcell, my absolute favorite operatic piece. And I doubt Davey could hit the notes, but if you did a cover of Klaus Nomi's Total Eclipse (or perhaps even Keys of Life or Za Bak Daz and his version of The Twist is just killer). And covering Orphans by Teenage Jesus and the Jerks would be fun.I think that's enough for now.
the doors. yall could do it
hmmm...i'd say either Lullaby by The Cureor Kathy's Song by Apoptygma Berserk
Where have all the top 5s gone?................................................bleh
Sisters of Mercy- Amphetamine Logic.
"Ballroom Blitz" by Sweet. Every time I listen to that song, I hear Davey's voice."Are you ready, Jade?""Uh-huh!""Hunter?""Yeah!""Adam?""Okay!""Alright, fellas! Let's GOOOOOO!"
jade, i heard the show was awesome, i hope you had so much fun. :)<3
I think it would be really funny if you guys covered a song by the Blood Brothers.
Bohemian Rhapsody - QueenYou have no idea how happy that would make me.I would love to see you play Just Like Heaven even though I know you've done it before.Lovesong - The CureThere is a Light... - The SmithsBoy with a thorn in his side - The SmithsAnything, really. Have a nice day :)
That "When I Think About You I touch Myself" song.:).
Heard you've been feeling under the weather.Get better, buddy. And own your show on Friday.Nicholas
Hey Jade! I hope you feel better soon :[
Whoever said you should cover 'Ballroom Blitz' by Sweet should get some sort of award. I second that request. It would be AMAZING.And how 'bout 'High School' by The Eyeliners?
...hm...that's a good question...you should cover "you give love a bad name". cuz I have atreyu's cover of that song stuck in my head right now. it's a good song.
Climbing up the Walls by Radiohead.for some weird reason i could see you doing a Bloc party cover.
I'm seconding The Misfits "Dig Up Her Bones". It's the best, blackest love song out there. If not, then:- anything from Rocky Horror. Oh c'mon, like you've never thought of re-working Time Warp or Sweet Transvestite. - some Bad Religion- Clampdown or Rudie Can't Fail or Spanish Bombs/ The Clash- some Covenant perhaps?- Big Neon Glitter/ The Cult- This Charming Man/ The Smiths- Skid Row... definitely- Street Spirit/ Radiohead- Killer Queen/ Queen- Something I Can Never Have/ NIN- Looking for a Kiss/ New York Dolls ( Actually, i just want to hear Davey say "when i say i'm in love, you best believe I'm in love... luv")- Day Late, Dollar Short/ Hanoi Rocks- View to a Kill/ Duran Duranand so forth and so on.... =)
The Smiths, or Nine Inch Nails would be really good. However, I think that Nirvana or Rancid would be INSANE! Doooo it.
Asleep by The Smiths. That would be very nice.
If you're going to do NIN, please do "Burn."
Love Will Tear Us Apart ~Joy DivisionBaba O'Reilly ~ The Who(with nice heavy techno send off at the end)Seeing you at Fonda & Tucson ~ gonna be a helluva drive!Love, Menace
"Wannabe" by the Spice Girls♪♪♪But fo serious...Something by Depeche Mode. That's the only thing I can imagine(for now) you guys like, nailing. You guys can rock their shit(not shit. ya get my point)up a little.Lady-Dildo-Legs Pitre,Cone Hat.♪♪♪
Was it predecided that that album should be released on 666?How... satanic.
Possibly Tori Amos' "Crucify". I am in agreement with most people about David Bowie though. While "Ziggy Stardust" is utterly classic I'm thinking maybe "Rebel Rebel".While I'm not sure where you boys stand on The Beatles but, I'm curious to what an AFI rendition of "Across The Universe" would be or maybe even "Helter Skelter". Naturally everyone is going to suggest something by The Cure, The Smiths and Joy Division. I have a softspot for Depeche Mode's "Stripped" so that could be interesting. That's such a loaded question and hard to answer for me since I have such a diverse taste in music. Silly Jade. :P
DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN or FINCH(a song called The Casket Of Roderick Usher)
I didn't read(wasn't about to read)everything that people requested so sorry if mentioned before:Groovy Kind of Love by Phil Collins. It's such a beautiful song.
I'd like to see you cover the song Hell Yeah by Apulanta because that song is amazing.Or something more conservative like any Placebo song.
Hell yeah, someone said Christian Death, but I think either Spiritual Cramp or Cavity First Communion would be great. You know what, im thinking about the Ballroom Blitz suggestion and I think that would be crazy as fuck!! I can totally see it, and it would be good!
OMG Jade. I was gonna see you guys at the Fonda on 4/28. It's a sad story, really. So KROQ was giving away 5 pairs of tickets to see you guys at the Fonda at your *shhhh* secret concert after the furious five at nine. So I called after #1 finish. The line was busy.So I'm thinking,'Great. Someone's won the tickets.'But I keep calling, cos KROQ didn't specify WHEN after #1 ppl. would start winning. After 10 min., at the end of a Strokes song, I called. The line RINGS. OOOOOSo I stay on the line. But then halfway through a HIM song, my phone hangs up on me!I quickly re-dial and about a min. later...........'Hello, KROQ.''Hi, I'm calling for the AFI tickets.' 'Oh, we JUST got five winners, but we will have more contests tomorrow.'..............I was sad and shocked at how close I was to winning those tickets. Then it REALLY hits me.Had my phone not hung up on me, I would have been on my way to the Fonda this Friday night to see you! That just depresses me.
Friday Im In Love-The CureDeath Comes Ripping-Misfitsand a Descendents song!!(maybe like Cant Go Back or...maybe even Coolidge)
ah, I totally agree with Friday I'm in Love by The Cure. That would be fantastic.
No covers. Just get Smith rapping on stage for a few minutes - especially at the Toronto show.
I say cover a song my Marilyn Manson. Maybe Nirvana.
Hey, you should totally do a song from the future. Ya sure songs from the past are easier to learn but who wants to hear another NIN cover, or another misfits cover? I want to hear a cover by the Atomic Death Warriors. yeah. either that or do a song by... dude i got it. Do a van halen song.Im thinking hot for teacher or maybe Panama, ya know, one of the classics so everyone knows it but then do that one thing *spins* and put your afi touch on it. Then if people ask, just say that you guys really wrote it and Van Halen used a time machine and covered it.So yeah. Dont forget to come to san diego or I will probably be forced to cut the strings off of your guitar and hunters bass.-Mattp.s. my display name is so true, and i have a video of me impersonating you but i doubt you are going to read this, so if anyone is still reading this damn post send a message to me or something and if i sign on ill put up a video. Yay.
My plane leaves at 4pm the day you're on TRL. I'm ready to bomb the airport.Oh! In addition to Smiths, I suggest Placebo.
Forget all my earlier suggestions.Ballroom Blitz definitely needs to happen.

"Head Over Heels" by Tears for Fears. I about died when I heard it in Donnie Darko... awesome song.and I agree about Joy Division. Rock to that.
I would Like to see you cover Killer Queen, By Queen So I would have 10 times more the reason to dance around like an idiot to it and have my best friends little brother tape it^_^
PEOPLE ARE STRANGE - THE DOORS"people are strange, when your a stranger, faces look ugly, when your alone"
Jade, I would love to hear you guys cover The Hollow by A Perfect Circle. Something totally different to cover, and I can envision you guys doing an AWESOME job.
I will shed tears of joy if you covered "There is A Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths.Or throw everyone for a loop and cover Sade. You all could pull it off. Say, "No Ordinary Love"?:)God Bless you for reading these, the replies are hitting novel status man.
I nominate Duran Duran, but I'd also die to see a nice live remake of Bliss by Muse. I must confess I'm not exactly sure what that'd sound like, though :)
Definitely "She Bop" by Cyndi Lauper. Yeah, that's really the only song you should cover.
Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt- The Mars VoltaDon't Stop Me Now- QueenI Remember You-Skid RowHA, Something by SAVAGE GARDEN. HA!Or...or...umm...I don't know.
this is like..late, but I think Queen would be good. Like maybe Killer Queen. only because one of those STS studio videos made me want to see what your version of it would be like; your style is different from theirs.
Bowie's Suffragette City
INXS maybe?? Hahahahahaha....really amazing cover by the way, its beauty.
Dosen't anyone want to see them cover a song by Creed?... I do. Maybe, "Never Die" or "Beautiful" OH! What about "Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden?
I'm such a fucking idiot. I just realized that "I Know What Boys Like" by the waitresses is the ultimate cover song for you guys. Also you should consider some Dolly Parton.
David Bowie, or Billy Idol...any of them!
