Well, the EP was never supposed to come out in December, as far as I know. We had a release date that's very soon but things are taking slightly longer than we hoped to finish all the odds and ends. HOWEVER, it will be out soon, not like months from now soon, but soon from now soon.

Yes, all the songs on the EP will be unreleased and therefore, technically, "new". I'm a fan of the songs, they're not just throwaways. I would have been happy if any of the EP songs had been on an album.

I believe I'll be watching the Superbowl this year. I've already purchased my extra large bag of Pirate's Booty. Speaking of Pirate's Booty, I don't know if I mentioned this but on the front of the bag there's all these pirate exclamations, including "thar be good!", which doesn't make any sense. I emailed the company to let them know that "thar be good!" was not very authentic and some lady wrote me back with some weird explanation. I don't think they took my complaint seriously.

Yes I have a degree but hopefully I'll never have to use it. Since I was a wee child I've wanted to be a novelist, way before I ever picked up a guitar. I'd like to finally finish a novel (I've started several and lost interest about halfway through). As for horror movies, I agree, I think the modern American horror movie is pretty poor, including the blasphemous remakes i.e. Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Let's see, fav concerts. Really, I didn't go to very many in 2007. I saw Justice, which was pretty swell, played some shows with Jimmy Eat World, it was nice watching them. Who I'd really like to see in 2008 is Godspeed You Black Emperor, but I've been waiting about 10 years to see them so I'm not holding my breath.

What would I do if I was locked out of my house and there was no one there to let me in. Well, I was locked out of my house last christmas, it was night and there were no lights on at all so I was just sitting there on my front step waiting for someone to bring me a spare key when this group of christmas carolers came down the block. I thought they would be creeped out by a guy randomly sitting in the darkness of his porch, and it would be quite awkward for them to sing Silent Night or O Tannenbaum to me while I lurked in the shadows so I went into the backyard and waited til they left. So the answer is, if I was to get locked out of my house I would hide from christmas carolers in the back yard.

If she's not happy with the relationship even though you haven't done anything to screw it up (like cheating, etc.), then it's like being in a boat with a hole in the bottom, you can try to bail it out but it'll only prolong the inevitable sinking. Good luck man.

How many guitars do you have?

I have around 27 guitars.
Yes, we buy each other presents, Davey and Hunter are usually pretty good but Adam and I are forgetful now and then. I bought Davey a book for his birthday and when I was about to hand it to him, he walked in with the exact same book. Jerk.

if u were a fictional character (from a tv series, movie, book or whatever), who would u be and why?

oh i have one more, i want to learn to play guitar, could u give me some tips as to what type of guitar i should be looking to buy and stuff?
im a beginner and i don't no anything about guitars, so that would help me greatly!"

Haha, that's an amazing rumor! I wish it were true so I could make fun of him all the time for getting denied by the whole country of Australia.
As for me, I loved it down there last time we toured, it really is a great country. I'd like to ride around in a kangaroo pouch but I hear they're filled with mucus.
It might be fun to act, although it stressed me out when I had to do that little bit of acting in the Silver and Cold video, it's harder than it looks with tons of grips and key grips, and other grips staring at you. I think I need more practice.
As for guitars, there's no right answer, it's whatever suits you best, so go to the axe shoppe and play a bunch.

When I joined AFI, I basically decided to make music my full time pursuit and passion. I was broke as hell, living in a single room in a broken down house but I didn't care, I just wanted to write songs and go on tour.
I know that feeling of knowing you're not doing what you should be, could be, or want to be doing with your life. We've probably all had it at one time or another. I'm incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love for a living and I think about that every day. Decide what you love the most, where your true passion lies, and then it's a matter of taking a leap of faith, devoting yoursel to that pursuit, even if you might fail, be broke and starving. I'm certainly glad I made that leap.

We weren't going to, but since you put it in all caps, ok! I've heard that Croatia is amazing so it's another place on our list we need to visit, along with Poland and Fargo, North Dakota. "The song "Death of Seasons" introduced me to AFI. There was something in that song that just drew me to it like a moth to flame. I later realized what it was. It was the electronic beats that come into the song about a minute and 10 seconds in.

I'm guessing it was you that came up wth the idea to include the electronica into the song, and you that created the sample. But, I was wondering, was this "Death of Seasons" piece something that was originally intended for Blaqk Audio, but just some how filtered into this album? And why include it? Out of all the songs on the album, this one truly sticks out because of this little bit of electronica. I'm sure the song would've been fine without it, but why did you think it needed that extra "kick"?

I'm not saying it's a bad thing. Far from it. If it wasn't for those tiny blurb of beats, I would never have become a fan of AFI. Or Blaqk Audio for that matter. It's just something that piqued my curiousity."

The story behind that part is that we tracked the song without that, it just had a normal 2nd verse but I took all the parts home and started messing around with them and came up with this idea of just completely switching gears in the middle of the song into a sort of industrial part. I put it all together and played it for everyone and they were into it so we left it like that on the album.

"less of a question more of a request. on afi's next tour will we get a broader spectrum of afi songs, you were great at that last minute show at the camden electric ballroom before decemberunderground came out because you played more older songs aswell as new ones, and it was great to see those multiple styles from different eras. im not saying your decemberunderground tour was a dissapointment, it was stunning, but i did miss the variety in what was a very heavy last two albums set."

Making the setlist is always tricky when there's 7 albums and 2 EPs to cover. It's an odd phenomenon with the old songs though, I'm always a fan of putting old stuff in the set but when we play it, the crowd doesn't really go off. It always baffles me because I hear people saying they want to hear some older songs but the newer ones get the crowd going way more. So here's what people should do that want to hear more of early songs, when we play them live, go extra crazy, headspins, uncontrollable spasming, silly little backflips, long division, spontaneous combustion, etc. and we'll put more of them in the set. Deal?

Yes, when we get this album done, we'll be doing tons more DF stuff, and, as I mentioned, we're getting ready to put out UTR #3.
As for the fan fiction, hey, if people are doing some creative writing instead of playing video games, I'm happy to be a part of it.
And coming to the east coast of Canada, you mean like Halifax? I've always heard Halifax goes off but I've never been. I think the problem for many touring bands is there's no big cities in between Quebec City and Halifax so it's hard to route a tour all the way out there, but you're right, we should hit it up. The barrier broke in the show and Davey told us about how smith was hit by a car or something while going to a club? He also answered some questions while the barrier was being fixed. I only figured out after that the barrier had broke and that's why everyone wasn't playing. A lot of people were being crappy about it, but it was cool."

Smurfs.
Tropic of Cancer.
Screeching Weasel- My Brain Hurts.
Yes, many of the song titles since Black Sails have been mine, here's a list off the top of my head:

Strength Through Wounding
A Narrative of Soul Against Soul
Exsanguination
The Lost Souls
Ever and a Day
Sacrifice Theory
Wester
The Despair Factor
Totalimmortal (Davey and I together)
The Leaving Song Pt 2
The Leaving Song
Bleed Black
Death of Seasons
...But Home is Nowhere
The Interview
Affliction
Synesthesia
Dream of Waking
A Winter's Tale
Hearts Frozen Soil...etc...
Reiver's Music

The Static Age asked me to remix Vertigo and I was happy to do it because I was and am a big fan. I think they're criminally underrated.
The Beatles of course!

The Four Seasons and Vivaldi is definitely a favorite, a close second would be Bach. I love Mahler, Dvorak, Mozart, Haydn, Rachmaninoff, and tons of others. My mom is a pianist and composer so I was introduced to classical music at a young age and have had an appreciation of it since then.

Yes, the crowds responded differently because the DJ's were so different. We chose several of them but there were some cities where we didn't know any DJs from that particular place so the promoter chose them. Some of the DJs were great and got the crowd moving before we came on. If any of you were at the Lawrence, Kansas show, he was a guy that the promoter booked but turned out to be fab.

Fave fruit, hmm, ya know I think it depends on the occasion. Sometimes you really get the craving for a honeydew melon, or feel like damn, a kumquat would really hit the spot right now. However, fruits are, technically, the ripened ovaries of a flowering plant, which is pretty gross.

People need to make their own life decisions, but if those turn out to be quitting those substance, I'm sure it can only be a positive thing in their lives. Just ask Dr. Drew. Dr. Drew is very tall, tan, and buff in person, by the way.
As for Jeffree, he's a nice guy. He has a tattoo of himself as a kid.

Do you forsee AFI doing a tour like Alkaline Trio did, playing mainly old songs? If you guys were to do that, i'd quit school/job/life and follow that show around.

Also, i noticed an Apple on stage when i saw blaqk audio in NYC. were you running ableton like everyone else does or are you a logic guy?"

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "I don't like Radiohead". Has anyone ever heard the words "Radiohead sucks" uttered? Anyway, yes I like RH. I thought In Rainbows was decent but I just realized I only listened to it a couple of times.
Nah.
I use DP live for Blaqk Audio, I like it because it's very stable. Ableton is a great program but it main strengths are in live tweaking and, since I'm busy playing keyboards live, those functions don't help me.

It is indeed easier, since all the music is me, so we'll be putting a new album out much sooner than that. I was, in fact, compiling all my new Blaqk Audio song ideas today and there's about 70 of them, so I have no shortage of material.

Yes, people come to me and ask me to remix a specific song. Looove to remix. As for those 2 remixes, we're friends with Ronan and the Faint guys as well so we just asked them to do remixes and they turned out great.

There's so many reasons why playing live is the greatest experience of being in a band. "Mardi Gras" (French for Fat Tuesday) is the day before Ash Wednesday, and is also called "Shrove Tuesday" or "Pancake Day". Mardi Gras is the final day of Carnival the three day period preceding the beginning of Lent, the Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday immediately before Ash Wednesday (some traditions count Carnival as the entire period of time between Epiphany or Twelfth Night and Ash Wednesday).
So I guess it's celebrating pancakes. Now that's a holiday I can really get behind. I'm tired of all these holidays celebrating love and thanks and presidents. Finally someone thought of the pancakes for once.

So, you have seen him at an ,oh-lets say, Turkish coffee shop and you decide to shadow this Doppelganger (or your Jungian Shadow Archetype if that is more to your liking) for the day! This is not the "evil twin" type that people have created from the originals.

Ok, how is he different from YOU and what does he do that you never would? Do your friends know it is not you? What does he do that makes you palm slap your forehead? This is meant as a fun question, I hope, so please know it is not meant to pry! Thanks again Jade!"
