Pretty boss? It's really motherfucking boss. You should definitely see it. It has just enough action, funny, sad, and epic.

Live long and prosper.

Absitively posilutely Mr. Puget, it's fucking fantastic. In fact, I'm going to see it for the second time this weekend. Zachary Quinto plays the role of Spock SPOT ON. It's so awesome.

IT'S AMAZING! I CRIED!!

that picture of ultra-geek inspires me to burn any star trek books, movies, cups, posters, magazines, soundtracks, pins, and figurine toys, by all means... modern or not, its still must be a pain in the backdoor to see, at least, for anyone with a monkeys common sense

Well, you could just stare at Hunter for a while. He has the Mr. Spock ears.

Most definitely.
I'll be monitoring your frequencies.

Yes for the win.

I think I must be horribly deformed, I can't do that hand sign. What a terrible affliction, it even parallels hiccups. How can I possibly be a suave trekkie while making that "swearing" noise at my next convention?
^
Sorry, I loved that tweet. I totally just ruined it. Forgive me.
Honestly, I don't know the first thing about Star Trek but I thought I might go see the movie. My brother went and liked it so I vote yes. Go.

P.S. You've probably already gone if you are adding these comments...worth seeing?

jatfhim said...

It's good. I think they did a good job of modernizing the characters a bit without ruining them (although my knowledge of it is extremely limited). They sneak in some famous phrases from the series that seem comically out of place. It's a lot of action with an okay story. I think the sequel has more potential. But yes, go see it.

kirstie said...

It will be better tomorrow. See it tomorrow.

It was pretty epic and enjoyable, I'm not going to lie. I felt like my inner nerd was liberated.

It upsets me that you consciously used the word 'boss', Jade. Maybe you should go see it -- I've heard it's good. I haven't watched it myself though. Going to the pictures is so bloody expensive these days and I'm always skint.

This is the life huh? -_-'

GO SEE IT!!! ITS SO FRICKIN AWESOME!!!
If you want to come to Northern Ireland, I'll go see it with you!
But in all seriousness, go, watch, love...

Nicholas said...

You should totally go watch a trekkie for a while. I bet it is "Boss." The movie is worth watching, too.

d said...

Yeah, go see it, it's good. A friend of mine made me go to the midnight showing. Thankfully there weren't any people dressed as Trek characters, and the film was exciting enough that I didn't fall asleep despite being exhausted. As far as summer action films go, it accomplishes its goals perfectly. The villain is a bit weak thought; it borrows the idea of making the protagonists the main focus from Batman Begins.

Dude My Dad MADE Me Go With Him.....But Sadly I Ended Up LOVING It....You Should Def Go

11am_street said...

Yes, it's freakin' awesome... however if you're a hardcore fan (I'm guessing you might not be), you might be a tad dissapointed. Something about the space-time continuum. But it's a great movie. I'd go see it again. :)

My-le and Jasmin. said...

Let yourself be a judge of that.

YES!

Brian said...

Definitely! It was awesome. I'm a casual fan of the series and this brought out the best in it. Enjoy!

P.S. You're awesome too

I enjoyed it very much, though I understand why the hardcore Trekkies don't like it. But this is no longer Gene Roddenberry's world - people's expectations of heroes and action movies are different, and this movie reflects the shift.

If you can manage it, see it on IMAX. It made my daughter motion sick.

Wait. Is that Star Trek or Star Wars? Isn't that the sign Darth Vader makes or something? It IS Star something right?

Oh dear, the Star _____ fans are going to kill me for not knowing.

Jade. I need to tell you out of my disgust for these certain people that... international people are using AFI's concerts in "high quality" as a trade object, to receive things in return.

I saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrLYfF7BJ9w&feature=channel, and the guy offered it on high quality. I emailed him, and he said that he would give me 3 of AFI's shows in return for buying something, shipping it to me, and then shipping it off to fricken Mexico.

Here's his list by the way. http://sites.google.com/site/afibootlegs/

I'm so freaking angry, what kind of AFI fan DOES THAT? He's USING you guys to GET CRAP. That's HORRIBLE. OH MY GOD I'M SO ANGRY.

REALLY. HE DESERVES TO BE SHOT.

That picture reminds me of when I saw Generations in the theater; there were 4 guys ahead of us, one wearing an admirals uniform. Everyone else was snickering. Go see it; JJ Abrams did a fantastic job.

As a devoted nerd, Star Trek was BEYOND EPIC.
As was Angels & Demons, which you should also see.

I saw them both on the same day with 2 friends; most fun I've had in a long time.

I think I wanna see it too, but tekky sex just doesnt appeal to me >.<

i saw 17 again. it was actually pretty good!

Did you see it?

And did you notice that fanboy in the pic is doing it wrong? Thumb extended, bro...

Fluffo said...

It was hard to go see Star Trek after being severely disappointed by X-Men Origins (I'd been waiting on the edge of my seat for both of them), but I eventually agreed to see it with Man & co and it was a LOT better than I expected.

Both Spocks (!) are perfect and the closeups of Cpn Kirk allow the entire world to see how horrible Chris Pine's acne was back in the day. The downfall is that Uhura is primarily out of character; as far as I'm concerned, she never had a romantic history with Spock... oh and there's a liplock scene that features a gross saliva string. I avoided kissing anyone for hours afterwards.

The point: yeah, go spend your money and see it.

Oh! I have music recs for you, though you've probably heard them before (I've been a slave to this music forever+ now, I don't know why it didn't cross my mind until now):
-Lemongrasss - think boards of canada, only not as good
-múm - icelandic experimental that used to be great until the original vocalist quit, married dave portner of animal collective, and moved to New York City. If you've never heard them, I suggest listening to "Green Grass of Tunnel," "Nightly Cares," and "We Have a Map of the Piano," in that order. :D
-Sopor Aeternis and the Ensemble of Shadows - creepy looking guy, catchy melodies.

Okay, bye.

Dancealways said...

Yes you should see it.

Hey Jade, it's a change in topic, but I just came across the demos from Sing the Sorrow on youtube. You should release more demos, should you have them (I suppose not everyone is as compulsive as Robert Smith and has every demo they've done since the 70s, but you might save stuff). It's really cool to see song concepts. This Celluloid Dream sounds closer to Art of Drowning era than the final version, and Paper Airplanes just sounds... different. I'm glad you changed the chorus for that.

Oh another totally random thing, but will the new album have some WHOA!s in it? I miss the WHOA!

Hevv. said...

Haven't seen it yet. It's supposed to be epic, so go watch it.

Sarahface8 said...

You should go see it for sure! I've seen it twice and I would pay to go again. It's boss, and wroth the money.

I had heard nothing but good things about that movie, so maybe my expectations were too high, because I was a bit disappointed when I saw it tonight. But still, it was quite a good movie. But if there had not been Spock, it would have sucked really bad.

I don't know why I find characters such as Spock and Watchmen's Dr. Manhattan attractive. Apparently I tend to like peculiar, cold/quiet/emotionless, not human-like movie characters. What does it tell about me.. :)

Things I didn't like about the movie: It would've deserved better music(now it was quite mediocre/boring). Uhura's and Kirk's actors were at times a bit annoying..or maybe I just had a bad day :) And why do they always pick these cute guys for leading roles? Maybe I've watched too much Star Wars and Babylon 5, Star Trek just isn't at their level in my eyes..:)

Hey Jade,
on Loveline you got a question concerning dating while being vegan and straight edge, which can be pretty hard.
The guy asking wanted some tips, and you were about to say something about it when it cut to commercial... Would you mind sharing your thoughts about this, do you have any tips? Becouse I too feel like this is pretty tough to handle sometimes. I think you said that your girlfriend isn't straight edge. How do you make that work?

Looking forward to the new Blaqk Audio.

Major kudos for using the word boss. My algebra teacher would approve.

I want to see Hunter's drawings! Think you could get him to post some on his blog or something?
I want to see your artwork too, but you're a little more reserved. Which I respect, but it's a little bit of a bummer sometimes.
I still think you wrote that ways to be cool list. It looks like the same scraggly handwriting in the hidden afi video that was part of love like winter. =]

Did you end up seeing Star Trek?
If so, what did you think of it?

I personally thought it was badass.. but then again, I grew up watching Star Trek.
Instead of growing up watching Barney and whatever was on PBS like other kids did, I would curl up and watch Star Trek with my dad. =)
