I know this is off topic, but PLEASE tell me we won't have to wait until April to see you guys in Europe...that would be 7 months after the release of Crash Love:(

Punk isn't really my thing. I like AFI, The Offspring and The Clash, but beyond that I'm not really interested in it.

Awesome mix!
You really should do a Minor Threat Cover someday to surprise the crowd. "Seeing red" oder "Out of step" would be cool. And I would sing and scream along, oh yes!

Wow this is a high school throwback! Nice!

No joke. Earlier this morning I made a comment to my friend about "Man, I wish Jade would put another mix up on his fricken blog!"

Apparently, we're able to communicate telepathically. Nice work.

Could I be the first commenter? Surely the interweb is lying to me...

Monday mix gets a thumbs-up from me. :D
(Unfortunately there is no fancy thumbs-up emoticon thinger. Someday I will be accredited for inventing it.)

Jade!

I have a few things to tell ya! First off, i was reallllllly hoping that sometime soon you were going to be true to your word and post some crash love tabs for us guitar enthusiasts!! (ive got the first part of fainting spells down) annnd i was hoping that with my contribution to the spreading of the word through my crash love page i created on facebook ( over 2 thousand members now) i was hoping you might agree i deserve at LEAST some tickets to the not so silent night in oakland! they are over a 100 dollars a ticket! =(

Just something to consider =) love ya!

Very good playlist I think my favorite song on that list would be Bad Brains or Minor Threat though.

P.S. Can't wait to see you in AZ!!!

Ah! I love every single one of those bands. I'm glad to find that I'm familiar with good punk bands :]

Thanks:) This quite made my Monday (which has sucked quite a bit).

I don't know if you read these comments at all, but I wanted to say thanks for doing what you do, and thanks for adding the Seattle and Spokane dates. I was worried that you wouldn't be coming to Washington at all, and now you're coming to TWO cities. I'll be going to both shows (5 hours apart). And I'll go alone if I have to.

Just like the bands in the playlist you posted were important to you growing up, I've loved AFI since I was 12, and I plan to for the rest of my life. So again, thanks so much and I'll be seeing you in January.

Nice mix you got there Mr. Puget, thanks for brightening my homework session. :)

Hey

It was very nice to meet you in Detroit, wish we had more time to talk about our NIN experiences. Btw The chicago show had Peter Murphy and the played Kick in the Eye and two Joy Division songs pretty epic. Anyways A.F.I. is a big influence on my own music so it was great meeting you! Ugh I was right in the middle of that fight to some people I tell ya!

I dont mean to be a bitchface but why didn't you guys meet fans after the Chicago show? I'd just like to know. It was an incredible show, the best night of my life. First AFI show, hopefully the first of many more :]

Dead Kennedys, woo.

This post came at an odd time because just yesterday, I was listening to a podcast in my office; Marc Maron. His guest was Jack Boulware who is the author of "Gimme Something Better" a history of the Bay Area punk scene. He mentioned AFI as one of the originating bands.

Saw you guys in Detroit last night.
Amazing!
Thank you so much for coming to Michigan.

ah, it's the perfect chance to get philosophical with you ;)

never let the punk within you die, jade. once you do that, you may as well grab your cane and head down to the Red Lobster for the early bird special.

thanks for taking such good care of us, bb.

I just have to say that I voted for Fainting Spells because that's my favorite song, not just the b-side or Crash Love, but my favorite AFI song ever, I could listen to it for like million times and never get enough of it.

Why did you guys decided it should be a B-side?

Erica Fernstrom said...

BLACK FLAG! BLACK FLAG! Good job on this list, Jade. You should make a second one.mushupork13wolfie1

Emi said...

They look really familiar. . .I think I heard some before :)

The show last night was amazing!! I've gotta say, that was the best first rock concert ever!

I got a crappy video on my phone before some chick shoved me off a little step thing. I felt so short!! Haha

I wanted to join the mosh :D That would have made my night.

Anyways, I'll check out those bands sooner or later. Good performance :)

Victoria said...

Yay, more mix! I'm really starting to dig these. Though, I've wanted to ask; the music that plays at the Crash Love concerts before Gallows and in between Gallows and you, is that one of your mixes? or a bandmates?
Thanks for coming to Detroit, by the way. We [from Toledo] went to the Columbus one and the Detroit one. Though people were crazy last night, sorry you had to deal with some of that. Some people are just foolish. But it was nice to see all of you and meet you! You are all sweethearts. Thank you so much for what you do. All of you please be safe on your tour. :3

Totally random, but when you said wide-eyed child... I immediately pictured you with huge, huge eyes... Abnormally huge, like a cartoon character when it's surprised...

Bleh said...

I have no idea what this has to do with bands you liked as a kid, but I think Smoth looks like Santa.

whenever I hear "I Shot the Devil," I think of Mark's mosh scene in Empire Records. From there, everything just slides downhill as I talk in nothing but Lucas quotes and do ACDC impersonations.

Hi Jade,
The songs you ut up are really good. I just lisetend to them. I just wanted to say you guys were AMAZING in Toronto; that was the first time I saw AFI live and it was great. Make sure you tell Davey, Hunter and Adam hat too, and the rest of your crew. I hope you enjoyed playing here and God bless you on the rest of your tour.

Hey Jade! I just wanted to say, you guys were amazing at the Chicago concert on Saturday. I'm still reeling from the experience. It was truly amazing, and I just wanted to say thanks for coming! You guys are truly the best.

Hey Jade,
I was a sucker for minor threat myself :)
Not lovin' the iPhone at the moment as it's decided to have a falling out with flashplayer and QuickTime :( damn!

Can't wait to see you when you hit Oz, I'll be at every gig except the one in my town... Missed out on the ticket sales for it, typical huh?

Wow... You know I just always took for granted that Kansas city was in Kansas...
Oh, I wish I could've seen Smith and Davey lugging those paintings around, what were the paintings of that they bought?... Anything in particular??
Much love as always :)

That's funny, I just listened to that Suicidal Tendencies album the other day. Brings back memories circa 1984-ish(?) when I'd hang with the skaters and we'd read Thrasher magazine and have DK logos on the back of our jean jackets. Oh how I miss the 80s. I feel privileged to have grown up when music was still good.

Today was one of the saddest days of my life. My life long partner, my best friend, George the cello died today. He broke his neck and died instantly. I cried. I just thought maybe a musician like you could sympathize. Damn, he was the best cello ever, and will always be in my heart. Great Toronto show by the way!!!

through our bleeding we are one said...

oh my god.
yall were awesome in atlanta tonight. i had an amazing time. met great people. have great pictures. you got about 7 ish feet away from me on stage and i got a picture of you! and mainly hunter and dave, sadly no adam :(
who of which doesn't look any different from his picture on dork. hahaa. but you are all just amazing. and i got like two feet away from THE AMAZING smith. he's a trip. he put tape on my friends wrist twice. it was great.

you all are amazing. just feel like telling you jade. you, dave, hunter, and adam are all just fucking amazing. and i love that dave said we're a fucking amazing crowd twice. :] that made me smile. but some douche bag behind me with a east bay jacket on was just pushing and shoving. but i pushed him back and said get the fuck away. it was like he was humping me!! ><
any way, have fun with other shows!

love you guys~
