1922-2010

“If those in charge of our society - politicians, corporate executives, and owners of press and television - can dominate our ideas, they will be secure in their power. They will not need soldiers patrolling the streets. We will control ourselves.”

1919-2010

"Boy, when you're dead, they really fix you up. I hope to hell when I do die somebody has sense enough to just dump me in the river or something. Anything except sticking me in a goddam cemetery. People coming and putting a bunch of flowers on your stomach on Sunday, and all that crap. Who wants flowers when you're dead? Nobody."

Wow, think about how long ago that was... in 1922 and 1919... and then they pass away this year...

*shiver* I'm glad I wasn't alive back then... no AFI or anything fun like that... no iPods... no Matt (my new bf)... creepy.

RIP (I guess, considering what the other guy said)

R.I.P. Mr. Salinger. His novels were a real turning point in my love of literature. His image of Holden is one of the greatest in modern literature; so much true emotion.

I love the second quote.
If I don't get buried in a cemetery, I want a viking funeral.

wow a lot of that does seem true and its depressing as well. *sigh* i don't think that it could be any worse as to taking youre own life for a friend especially when it comes to "equivelant exchange" because thats sort of what i'm doing for all of my friends but it kinda makes sense on what i said because i said that i promise to be there no matter what for my friends and at the same time i also said that if one of my friends ever tried to or actually did kill themselves then i would want to die along side that firend its kind like a curse but at the same time if i were to remove that curse it would be like me breaking my promise but yeah that does make sense as to what they were saying oh yeah btw my best friend is still getting worse :(

you know I cried when i heard JD Salinger died - I mean bawled. Of course there were others reasons to the tears and i Didn't know the man personally but I tell you i felt i know the guy through what work of his i read.

i have it all set that when i am long gone i want a huge party a real big one and to be cremated scatter me at The Green Cay beach on the island of st croix (that's where i'm from)That is WHAT I want.

You know... we are not ment to live forever. there is no such thing as a cup of life. botex and cosmetic reconstruction slows up process.

we are born, give life, share life, pass life. Plain and simple

Hey by the way. I got an email from Amazon.com yesterday and it said "since you are someone who has purchased music by AFI in the past, we thought you'd like to know about this" and it was some live AFI album coming out called "The Lowdown." Are you guys releasing a live album next month?

Umm... umm... wow... AFI concert tomorrow January 30 I've been waiting 2 and a half years for this day, this wonderful best day ever...

My Lit professor completely scraped what we were going to be doing for the next two weeks (Robert Frost..bleh) so we could spend some time on Salinger. Super excited.

Even though one's a poet and the other is a novelist, Robert Frost is trumped by J.D. Salinger any day of the mother effin' week.

kylewagoner said...

I wonder if they'll do that with him...or if it was in his will to do that...

Jade? Are you okay? I cant really tell...im on mobile. But this seems alot more serious to me. Feel free to laugh at me if Im wrong.. But just in case I love you to the fullest extent that a fan can love a musician. I truly mean this. Signed, Natasha Bloodshed. -hug-

Anonymous said...

The thing that is special about this is that the love for the musician is strong, an admiration that is unbreakable and yet neither may never speak or see eachother in their lifetime and yet that fans stay devoted and the musicians don't have to know the fans personally because we all share this admiration, this love. The musician acknowledges us as a whole, which is why this relationship between band-and-fan is so special. We never see you, never personally talk and we may never meet you. But. We love you. Some of us even make sock puppets of you. Hope this makes you happy. Also signed, Natasha Bloodshed. OH. AND! REMEMBER- If love makes the world go round and the Earth is egg shaped with mountains and canyons then there must not be enough love in the world. .. I DON'T RAMBLE. I EAT PEOPLES' BRAINS.

That's funny Jade, really hilarious,I just got back from my gandmother's funeral, that's an odd coincidence, wouldn't you think? My 21-year-old cousin probably cried the hardest. It would have almost been funny if the situation were different.

Who are those people?

Who are those dudes?
And why doesn't he like flowers?

Aaaaand...

Okay, so WHICH Twitter account under the name of Jade Puget is yours? Because there are, like, three, and one of them had a very rude comment on Justin Bieber. He is not a pinhead. He's awsome, and he's from Stratford, and you know what (ALLISON) There's going to be one less lonely girl on this Earth when I marry Justin Bieber!!!! I don't understand people who don't appreciate Justin Bieber (ahem... ALLISON... what's wrong with you?!?!?!) But I don't think... wait... how...?... Ugh, I need ketchup.

I'll figure this all out later.

(By the way, "And girl you're my one love, my one heart, my one life for sure, let me tell you one time...")

SUCK IT ALLISON!!!!!!

Sorry, maybe I should have just waited until Tuesday to freak out, even though I needed to say that NOW...

That's depressing..atleast theyre in a better place then this polluted hellhole :) (wow that doesn't sound too positive..)

Sorry Jade, I missed the quotes. I thought that was you talking. Although it sounded much out of character for you. (Never read the book) My misinformed post still stands though. It's all about what happens to our souls when we die, not our bodies that are left behind. Don't worry, I'm done "preaching" now. I know how you guys hate that.
Now on a lighter subject, when are you coming to SoCal??

Rest in peace Mr. Salinger. Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book ever read in english class. I'd read it again on my own time.
Rest in peace Mr. Zinn.

Jade, just a question on the Beautiful Thieves teaser- The wine glass didn't break. WHY IS THE WINE GLASS NOT BREAKING?!?!?
Also, that one segment with the random dude and his posse is constantly reminding me of my play rehearsal on Thursday in which the director spent the majority of the time putting together a five second sequence of Andrew getting attacked by his female posse. Beauty and the Beast, you know. Gaston? That dude? Andrew's standing there thinking "This is he best part of my day!"

as for that quote, classic Holden idealism (though i actually think i'd appreciate the gesture of flowers when i'm dead.)

Hey Jade! I was at the Marquee Theatre last night in Tempe! First AFI concert ever and best concert ever! But due to the pushing I moved from second row in front of you to 20th row barely still in front of you... but it was still an amazing concert!!!!!

I dont want to get old. I dont mind the dying part so much. But getting old bothers me.

Sara said...

I read through some of the comments and alot of them seem to be lamenting death itself. People will never stop dying and all people no matter how great will also pass, that is what makes life special. Salinger really kept to himself and I heard some kooky things about him but he inspired countless other authors.

Thanks for recognizing those 2 individuals who contributed so much to humanity. Everyone, if you have not read "You can't be Neutral on a Moving Train", you should. I was in the same room as Howard Zinn once when he came out during a Pearl Jam show in Boston in 2004. He uttered just a few heartfelt words: 'stop the war'.

JADE! i recently went on the mtv chanel and to my befuddlement, realized I was watching an afi music video!!! it's the new one

this video is awesome because it's so appealing to the eyes. it's not black n white or pallid in performance. the video is so vivid, whearas other videos are sullen and hard to understand.

Well done! Oh! and,
you looked like you were ready to SLAP the shit out that dude that kept on tapping your shoulder. that was interesting to watch.

did you say anything to him?????? it wasn't in the video, but would you if that had really happened.

seriously, you looked annoyed at him. nice!
