Greetings from Antwerp, Belgium, home of diamonds.
I've been a little remiss in my blogging as we traipsed across Europe but things are a bit more mellow now and we're scheduled to fly home in 3 days, that is if this:

allows us.

The UK leg of the tour was killer, it's always pleasant to tour with your friends, and having Sick of it All and the Dear and Departed along was the best. My very first trip to Europe, in 1999, was when Sick of it All took us, so it was nice to return the favor.
On the ferry to France I was able to sit in the very front of the lounge, surrounded by floor to ceiling glass windows and watch Calais materialize out of the dawn fog, one of my favorite Channel trips yet.
The shows on the Continent were fun, back to Milan and Zurich, back to Vienna, and then to a place I hadn't been yet, Warsaw, Poland.
We had a 10-hour drive from Austria to Poland and a 20 hour drive from Poland to Belgium the night of the show, which we were all dreading. But damn, was it ever worth it. What a crazy show, so good, the crowd was so amazing. We played our entire set, including encore, and I was on the bus changing out of my sweaty playing clothes when I heard that the crowd hadn't left the venue, even though the house lights and music were on. They stayed in there chanting for 20 minutes through it all. So I immediately stumbled shirtless and shoeless out into the frigid Eastern European night and made my way back to the stage where we played another encore.
Encores are pretty corny in general, they're something you sort of have to do but they're always slightly embarassing because they're so expected, but this was a legit encore, where the crowd literally won't leave until you play more songs.

All in all, I ate pounds (kilograms) of vegan deli slices and drank gallons (liters) of this:

Via has really revolutionized the art of touring.

God, that Poland show sounded amazing. I got suer jealous when I heard you guys played ...But Home is Nowhere, Cold Hands and Hearts Frozen Solid. Killer set. I'm so glad they brought the love for you guys <3

Me and the rest Colorado DF are taking a 10 hour road trip to see you guys in Omaha the beginning of June. We will try and bring as much love as we can to Nebraska with us! <3

And we appreciate that you enjoy polish crowd! Best band in history deserves for the best public, right? I hope it's only matter of time when you announce your comeback here! Remember that we will always love you :D

Wow, Jade. I am quite fond of the fact that your willing to dart shirt and shoeless back to play a show. That is fucking AMAZING. Peter Steele died... Wasnt sure if you knew. So Milan is nice, did you run into Lacuna Coil? Thatd be hella rad. and. Perfect solution for the cloud: get everyone in Europe to blow it away. Happy to hear 4rm you, xo- Bloodshed.

Thank you for the show in Warsaw!

Great show Jade! We tried to give you as much energy and dedication as you always give to the audience, and I think we did it. I won't probably be alone in my opinion that it was even beyond our expectations. Looking at your surprised faces during On The Arrow was an amazing moment, but the second encore was unbelievable! My throat was almost dead while chanting, but after seeing you again it was like: "Fuck it, who cares about voice now". It was definitely your best show I've seen live and I hope you'll give us a chance to be even better next time (in Poland of course :) ) And it's great to know what was the problem with shoes before Too Shy :D

See you next time!

PS. By the way please give my best appreciation to Adam, we asked him for Hearts Frozen Solid and we got it. Probably best moment of my life.

Cool! I was in Zurich while you guys were in England, I'm kinda pissed I missed you guys. Did you go to the vegan places there? We went to maybe two or three of them, and they all had the EXACT same food, and it was mostly Indian, so it wasn't that good. :\

My friend Zoe had gone to all of your shows so far, I'm sure you've talked to her. She's sending us facebook updates on the tour, it's so cool! :-D

I'm sure the flight will make it! Maybe it can take a detour into outerspace or something. XD

Since it was pouring down rain here in Atlanta, I was watching old afi interviews from 5 am to 7 am. You're a funny guy Jade. Haha

I have one request of you. Google "robot unicorn attack game." My friend told me to the other night, and I spent all night that I should have been writing a paper, playing this game. It's supposed to be weird, that's why it's such a sensation. I hope that this will cheer your tour weary mind! Haha

whoa, i never knew anything interesting ever happened in belgium. yay for belgium!

i think i figured out why that happened there. it's because living here in the US, we know there's always gonna be another show. (ie, i could go from ny, to hartford, to providence to boston to philly, etc, to see you guys), whereas the belgiques never know WHEN you'll be comin around again! we're spoiled in the US!

thanks for the long, long blog. love you!

Jade, BIG THANK YOU guys for making this night in Warsaw so special! We were excited about your first concert in Poland and in the very beginning surprised that you're going to come! Glad that you liked our glowsticks, flag, afireinside polish board t-shirts and energy, it's a real pleasure and a gift for us. Personally I was so happy to hear ...But Home Is Nowhere - it was my dream for a couple of years! So again - big thank you and hope to see you again someday! :) Greets form Poland!

The Warsaw show sounds like it was so awesome. I wish fans in the midwest were that persistent. But either way, I'm still really excited for Indianapolis/Grand Rapids/Milwaukee in June! We're probably bringing jump ropes and kites to pass the time in line. You guys are more than welcome to join us, haha.

I only watched the videos of the Warsaw gig, but in some strange way, the heightened levels of awesome in that room made me so proud to be an AFI fan. It's awesome to know that we really are everywhere.

It's also awesome to know you were so well nourished during your European travels. I hope you guys get some well deserved rest at home soon!

Glad you all had fun in the UK! I may be able to see you next month in Memphis! Soooo excited!!!!! I love vegan deli slices as well, my girlfriend and I enjoy making vegan pepperoni-salami pizza. We use a cornbread type pizza crust and make sauce with diced tomatoes, Classico spaghetti sauce, garlic salt, paprika, salt, pepper, and oregano on a pan & pour it on the pizza crust. Then we add the pepperoni and cut up pieces of vegan salami (you should add those before the cheeses so they don't dry out). Then we shred vegan mozzerella on it and break apart the Tofutti Original cheese squares and add that on. Put it in the oven at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or more. Enjoy!

I truely (STILL) can't believe you decided to play in Poland. To be honest - when I found out you're going to visit our country I burst into tears. I couldn't believe that.

I was in the crowd, and when you left the stage, the lights were on and technicians were dismantling everything I was like "WTF!!! They've just started to play, it CAN'T be over". Those 90 minutes felt like 20. Everyone around felt the same, we thought it's a kind of bad joke...
At the same time we were realizing you have really left the scene and you're not coming back... So we just HAD TO beg you to play at least one song more by screaming and clapping. Craziness!

THANK YOU once more for this awesome evening, you were fucking unbelievable!
ALL OF US CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU BACK IN POLAND! :D

(forgive me mistakes, my english's not perfect but just had to share my opinion...)

Hi Jade, I've been to Belgium yesterday and I was really in front, between you and Davey, I came all the way to Paris only to see you guys and it was totally worth it! I even remember Adam screwing the end of the song you played just before "Days of the phoenix" (can't remember the title!) and I laughed a little, it reminded me of my complete amateur band, but we do it soooo often that it's embarrassing....! but no hard feelings buddy, it was an innocent laugh! To be honest many people wouldn't have noticed it if Adam didn't show a big "oh, goddammit-face" at the end of the song! Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that it was an awesome show, and I don't wanna look arrogant, but if you'd like to come more often in France it would be really great, you have so many and more die-hard fans than me there! Thanks again for yesterday, hope to see you soon, and please, continue to move on stage the way you did until now, I bet you have no idea how mesmerizing it is! (oh, and next time, aim for me when you throw your pick, the crazy non-stop jumping indian guy with glasses!) Love from Paris!

I even remember when Adam screwed the end of the song you played right before Days of the phoenix (can't remember the title!), it wasn't that obvious until I saw Adam's face, he was like "...oh crap." and the you were staring at each other. I laughed a little beacause it reminined me of my totally amateur band, but we screw so often that it becomes embarrassing at some point! no hard feelings buddy, it was an innocent laugh! It's good to hear that you guys had so much fun touring. European crowds tend to be more stellar, no? That's what I've gathered from attending concerts in both continents (NA vs E).

I just want to say WELL DONE to Poland! I checked out some of the videos on youtube. You guys kicked ass! I will most probably never see AFI play live and therefore I get so irritated nowadays, because most of the comments are always negative about some ridiculous aspect of the band or the shows. These "fans" have forgotten what it's all about and are more interested in exercising some bizarre form of ownership over the band by always complaining. So Poland showed what it's really all about! You guys got a chance and you made it a memorable one allround!

Glad you had fun in Poland, Jade!
I feel the need to say this... Yesterday, playing Band Hero in my house, I had downloaded three AFI songs (Beautiful Thieves, The Missing Frame, and Girl's Not Grey) to play, and started playing them on drums. Now, while playing Girl's Not Grey, I loosened my grip on the drumsticks a little, and they would bounce when I hit a cymbal. And, lo adn behold, in the middle of the chorus, I hit the cymbal, and you heard, "What follows me as the whitest lace of FWACK!" because of my amazing idea to hit the cymbal as hard as possible, the stick bounced high enough to hit me. In the eye. Thus resulting in me dropping the stick, falling off the couch, and almost failing the song.
On another note, I had been talking to a friend in school a while ago about AFI and another kid had insulted the band repeatedly to annoy me. Then me and the other AFI fans crawled out of our dark corners of the world, surrounded him, and chanted, "Through our bleeding! We are one!" thus unleashing a fiery specter above us that seemed to be a cross between Jesus, you, and Davey. Then a thousand demons poured forth from its eyes, destroying the hater.
Well, that happened in my head, at least.
I know that I DID start chanting different AFI lyrics, confusing him horribly and scaring him.
Well, anyhow, I'm glad your tour is going well! I'm hoping to see you in August!

After few years of waiting for your concert in Poland I was so excited that I couldn't stop sreaming when you appeared on the stage and started to play medicate intro at the beginning of the show... then when I saw Davey, unter and Adam I screamed like an animal. I must have looked like an idiot 'cause people next to me laughed at me but who cares when your favourite band appears few metres away?
My throat was truly exhausted after jumping, singing and screaming to every song but I didn't care about that when I saw you leaving the stage, 'cause noone could believe it was the end of the show, so I stayed with most of other fans and shouted as loud as I could. Seeing you coming back on a stage for the first time was one of the best moments in my life(not kidding!).
Please, come back to Warsaw someday because everyone is waiting for more!
Love you guys. and forgive me my languege mistakes because my english is very poor, but I hope you understood most of message.

So you and davey showed up to teach me to play these things while adam and hunter were being bartenders at this venue. Its the first time you guys have ever been in my dreams and its all because I fell asleep listening to the art of drowning. Just wanted you to know that because I thought it was odd.

Nice post. That was a real exciting tour to the continent. I too went on a short break to France and Belgium this winter. The best part of my journey was the Channel crossing to France with dover ferries. Instead of taking the ususal ferry route to Calais, I travelled with the dover ferries running exclusively on Dover-Dunkirque ferry route simply because it was much quieter and less crowded than Dover-Calais. It was an enthralling trip and the services I was offerred onboard the vessel was awesome.

Ah so you recommend VIA? Good to know, I was curious but very suspicious of all forms of instant coffee... Awesome that you guys went to places you've never been to before! shall we continue that streak???

I'm going to central and eastern europe later this year, very excited about that. It's really cool reading comments from people who must have been at the Warsaw gig, too.

There was this one time, forever ago, I was on your blog and you posted pictures that you took in a graveyard. Was it my dream or did you delete that post? It was quite inspiring. I'm actually more into photography now. Hmmm, I guess I'm crazy.

Hey Jade, my son graduates from Berkeley in a couple of weeks. You don't happen to be guest speaker do you? Ahaha J/K That would be cool though, wouldn't it?

You really need to update your blog Jade.

So now I wonder what happened...were you drawn inexorably into the vortex of the volcano? Or spewed into the stratosphere? Or are you back in CA happily planting giant nasturtiums under a kumquat hedge? Where did Jade go?

Hey Jade, I wanted to say that you guys were absolutely amazing on your USA tour! (Is it too late to say that?)
Anyway, I know you probably dont go through every comment here, but I sure hope you read this one.
I'll keep this short and sweet. My friend's birthday is coming up and I thought that it would be really cool if you could wish her a happy birthday because you're her favorite guitarist (or even person for that matter).
Her name is Abby and she's turning 16 on Wednesday (June 2nd). If you want to contact her, her email is abbyyes@msn.com. If not, no hard feelings! :)
Much love,
-Sarah

You come back now! Hope to see you in August with Green Day

I drove out to your show in Nottingham at Rock City and you guys were amazing. That was the smallest venue I have seen you in. I met Lou afterwards. He's such a nice guy.
