We are in the obscure city of Holmdel, NJ, which apparently isn't close to anything, I don't even think it's close to Holmdel, NJ.

My hotel room is one of those weird Holiday Inn "suites", that consist of a huge, oddly-shaped livingroom/gymnasium, an incongruously tiny bathroom, and a bedroom with no windows, which doubles as a depressing cave. I drug the desk out of the cave into the gymnasium so I can at least have a little light.

Last night's show was entertaining (I've been pleasantly surprised at how fun these have been).

Davey always manages to somehow find a feather boa in the crowd every night, so you know he's in heaven.

Halfway through the set I noticed this guy with long blonde hair and shades rocking out front and center, in between the barrier and the stage, which I thought was odd because not only did he have a Clash shirt on, but security wasn't booting him. then I realized that it was Billie Joe in a wig and it made more sense.

Now, where does one eat in Holmdel, NJ?

I swear, some hotels are just janky. I don't get who designs them. I've ran into the same bizarre combination of a really nice living area, then tiny bathroom/bedroom.

One of the coolest places I've ever stayed at is the W Hotel in Chicago. Have you ever stayed at one?

Haha, that sounds like a party! Such a bumer that Crash Love is coming to an end, but definately can't wait for some Blaqk Audio mischief.

Welcome back to the poisonous state, Jade (it's not that bad, is it?)!
I wish I could see you--I live in West Caldwell, about an hour from Holmdel, but my friend just left to go to Georgia and my other friend is leaving for Mexico the day after the show (though feel free to come to West Caldwell, 'cause I'll come say hi... we have a cupcake place with over 120 varieties of cupcakes).
I actually drove past the venue you're playing a while ago on my way to the beach and saw a sign for the show, which induced some freaking out on my part and frantic searching for a CD to listen to.

Aaaaand I heard the Chicken Song on the news today! About thirty seconds of it, while there was a short story on poultry! I heard it while brushing my hair in the morning and I screamed when I heard it playing. I wrote about it here: http://maybemagical.deviantart.com/journal/34257585/

AFI album -> AFI tour -> Blaqk Audio album -> Blaqk Audio tour -> Rinse -> Repeat

You and Davey are going to die. How do you have the energy? Is it the vegan cookies?

Seriously though, good luck on tour. I'd love to see you guys but you're not coming anywhere near Arkansas (probably never will) and I can't leave the state :(

I can't blame you guys for not coming here though. If you asked someone for a vegetarian dish here they would hand you either chicken, lasagna, or meat loaf.

Oh and here's some new music.

Don't get eaten by a grue and have a good tour

Have fun on your tour with Green Day!!! And can you please come here and convince my school that having the Straight Edge symbol on your hands does not require suspention!!!

Glad your having fun Jade :D. Tell Davey to be on the look out for a boa from a girl near the stage on Monday. If he takes hers it will make her life! hahaha at the B.J.rocking out behind security at the Concert! Hope the rest of the tour goes well.

poor, poor New Jersey. no one can ever think of a good thing to say about it. how about it's lovely beaches and sweet corn in august? maybe you could get some fresh corn and have the hotel steam it up for you.

(i live across the river in westchester county, NY. i'm just trying to help out here.)

sorry to miss the Feather Boa Tour, but am so stoked for the BBH tour!

Come back to Philly - And by Philly, I mean legit Philly...not that Camden nonsense. We'll house you properly.

I may be going out on a limb by asking this (and believe me, it's taken me a good 10 minutes to muster up the nerve, as this quite is out-of-character), but could you possibly consider playing "Okay..." tomorrow night (in Holmdel)?

I know that it isn't likely in the works for any of the Green Day shows, but experiencing it live would elate me so - It's my last Crash Love era show, and out of the 10x I've had the fortune of experiencing your performance this year, I have yet to hear/view it live.

That said, the passion incorporated into your stage presence is much appreciated.
It's been a great ride.

Here's to the near future that belongs to Blaqk Audio.

Jade, you never cease to amaze me.

I suck for not seeing you in Houston! AFI is vonderful. ♥ Keep it tight, bro! :)

Saw you guys at the DC show! Got really lucky and scored some tickets. Wish you guys headlined the tour though. 30 minutes of AFI isn't enough for me.

Really really happy that I heard a lot of songs from Sing the Sorrow though! Leaving song live is something I've only dreamed about!

Yeah, I've stayed in some weird hotels too. And now I know to bring a feather boa for when I finally get to go to a AFI concert of Blaqk Audio concert.
Speaking of Blaqk Audio, you guys should come to Vancouver when you go on tour. It might be my only way I could see you guys.

I too witnessed the Chicken Song on the news, although I was in public, and my and my girlfreind's reaction was probably very entertaining to the people who were trying to take our order. What was creepy about it was, that when it happened we were talking about how we had slipped in our attempt at veganism that we had been working on since November and how all the members of AFI are really important examples because, you have to look at your body as an instrument as well as your guitar or drums or something and you have to take care of it, which is a piece of the puzzle that we are still trying to get a hold of. So, to hear the chicken song of all things interrupt our conversation was an interesting experience to say the least!

Can't wait for the new Blaqk Audio! Bring it to Oz, please? :)
I have a feather boa... but mine was from The Rocky Horror Show stage show here in Oz... Don't ask how it came into my possession!

Why would it be odd to have a Clash shirt on? I love the the Clash!!
Looks like you brightened up your blog a bit too :) Love the birdies :D Counting down my days to see you. I hope you play for a long time! It's okay if you cut into Green Day's time. I'm sure they won't mind :D

I saw you for the first time couple days ago in Virginia, I was right in front of you, I called your name but I guess you couldn't hear me :(

Can I somehow magically transport a feather boa I have no use for from the UK to the US to you for you to give to Davey?

Also, if you think that hotel is bad, you should see some of the ones over here, they put the 'uck' in 'sucks'

Feather boas?? LMFAO...though I still don't see why it makes him happy.... :D

LoStInThEdArK said...

You should bring BA through Wisconsin... random thought much? lol
Anyway... Billie Joe is a wig?? Awesome... maybe you should try a wig and see how people react...

Hotels are so wanky... I just don't understand them and I work at one... it's nonsense...

Davey and boas... this is soooo funny...

Holmdel sounds like my town... close to nothing but itself...

I remember my first ever Green Day show (which happened this January) - it was a proper party! Such fun. Wish I could be there to see AFI too but at least you're enjoying yourselves!

I don't do threats so i will only plead with you, since you have decided to bring on the death of such a young album I can only beg that BA come to England! I BEG you

You played in my neck of the woods last week. Too bad you didn't stop in Fukien Gourmet. Much love for obscene sounding Chinese food. I don't think you West Coasters are all culinary elitists though. I saw deep fried butter at the OC Fair the other week. I think not.

MissDani said...

The Holmdel show couldn't have been more astounding. The Crash Love era has definitely ended on a high note, for me. Thank you for being you.

10 minutes down the GS Parkway to exit 109 brings you to Red Bank & literally all kinds of food, shops, the Navesink River, and interesting places to walk around.

Amazing show on Saturday, hope you enjoy the rest of the tour! :)

Hehe, I totally thought you said Billy Joel, which definitely would not have made any since whatsoever.

BTW, loving the new skin on your blog. It's quite nice. :)

Have a good one, Jade!

"I drug the desk out of the cave into the gymnasium" hahaha I think you are the first person in history to say/type that sentence! Good job on making world history. I loved seeing you guys (AFI and Green Day) at Lollapalooza. I'd tell you to come to Chicago with Blaqk Audio, but I'll travel to any city to see you guys (but Chicago would be a nice stop :D )

Now I know what to get Davey for Christmas. Or, I could give it to him before Christmas, if maybe you guys came to London when Blaqk Audio tours? ;D

That's a sad resturant.

I think we stayed at the Holiday Inn last year when we saw NIN. The window of the room opened to a hallway. But we met Trent Reznor, so I have a great impression of Holmdel. Its also near the ocean.

Can I just apologize for New Jersey? We have this amazing ability to have towns that are usually 40 miles apart from each other with not much in between. I like in a small town where the biggest store we have in the whole town is a hair salon. A state has to be pretty lame when the biggest thing we have going for us is a group of New Yorkers coming to our shore, getting filmed, and making everyone over the world think that everyone from New Jersey is like those idiots.

Annabel Lee said...

Holmdel isn't that bad. It's really near to the shore towns like Middletown, Red Bank, Point Pleasant and such. Plus I lived there, so that just automatically makes it infinitely more awesome than other parts of Jersey.
